BIO
These days, as the scope of human labor is gradually shrinking under technological occupation, people are moving away from things molded by their own hands.
I believe handcraft needs to be reconsidered in this context. As a manifestation of persistent human labor, handcraft procreates an irreplaceable preciousness shaped through attachment and care, and echoes calm yet profound voices that beckon us.
Often called imperfection, handcrafted objects inevitably have unexpected diversity through the dialogue between our thoughts and fingers, between concept and reality. It is this imperfection—entailing fragility, delicacy and subtlety—that speaks to us with a human warmth. I have a deep interest in this relationship and seek to utilize handcrafted care as a cradle of beauty and creativity.
Enduring the painstaking process I sculpt with large quantities of granular materials, such as rice, glitter, and powders. Through the repetition I experience and record, a human scent is left behind.
I trust that there is sincerity in what is tenacious and laborious. It gravitates the audience with patience, and delivers compelling moments of what is carefully treated.
